Story # 8: A spittoon's mutiny

'My name is Akshit Barot. I am 27 years old...' is how Akshit opens the story as he sits punching in his sanity back into the computer. A few moments later, he punches in a confession. 'And I hate my life.'

The root for Akshit's 4 worded declaration is seeded in the complacent submissive attitudes he is surrounded with. Living in a joint family along with his three elder brothers, their wives and kids and his aging mother, Akshit is treated like an errand boy. An aspect he detests with all his being. The egg of silent helplessness that took birth in his being several years ago, is now growing. And it is only a matter of time before cracks and ... well, that's just it. Akshit's fear is with the unknown. What will he do? How will he deal with his overbearing siblings' and sisters-in-laws' never ending monarchy on his life? How long will this spitttoon continue to balance a job and a life that just isn't what he had hoped to live. How, O just how, will his mutiny finally emerge out of that egg? And what will it do to him? Which shape will it take? How potent a spell will it cast?
