Story #7: Constellations

The blanket of stars peppered across her rooftop was all Nandini knew when she was growing up. It was there, under that carefully woven web of brilliant creativity, that her father had introduced little Nandini to the skies. It was there that she had learnt her lullabies and fairytales. Stories where she saw her forefathers and applauded their heroic deeds. Tales where she became so connected that she began using that blanket of glittering dots as sources of inspiration and help in her later years. It was there - that Nandini met her late grandfather. The hunter who had killed a wolf with his bare hands.

With the passing years and the sweeping wave of a workaholic nation's sleeplessness, Nandini too got swept away in its insanity. She no longer had any time to watch a star lit sky and ask innocent questions to her father about their origins. Her connection with the stars, best to be said, had come to an end. An end so pivotal that Nandini could not have predicted how that very blanket of her inspiration and help would come calling for her one fateful night. The night the hunter would return.

'Constellations' is a tale that combines the hardcore reality of today's India's urban scene against the backdrop of the mystical. It is a reflection of the kind of lives young men and women lead without sparing a moment to think of what lurks in the darkness of their fatigue - ready to strike.
